There is no such thing as the one best car in the market, but there are many good cars, and the 2018 EVOLTN Cars of Malaysia is an award that recognizes the variety of good choices out there.
There is no such thing as the one best car in the market, but there are many good cars, and the 2018 EVOLTN Cars of Malaysia is an award that recognizes the variety of good choices out there.
In our line of work, we often get asked to name one best car to buy at a certain budget or segment. It is a question that many motoring publishers have sought to answer with comparison tests and Car of the Year awards.
But having reviewed countless number of cars over the years, covering various segments, we have come to the realization that it is pointless to dictate any one car to be the absolute best of a given segment.
Every car out there has its unique collection of traits that make them each better suited to the needs of different individuals. To name one car that best fits the requirements of every buyer shopping in that segment? The approach doesn’t quite make sense now, does it?
Also, just because a car was launched last year, or two years ago, does not mean it’s immediately no good next to the brand shiny new one unveiled yesterday.
With all these considerations in mind, the Aurizn team presents the inaugural EVOLTN Cars of Malaysia awards. Unlike most car awards in the market, we consider the merits of all cars presently on sale, and we select the best three of every category. You, the consumer, make your final pick on what you feel is the best car for yourself.
Recognizing
Diversity
Our full list of nominees and categories which they belong to are listed below. These cars were not randomly selected and neither were they ‘handpicked’ according to amount of advertising dollars received from their makers. Instead, they were put through a rigourous scoring system evaluating their respective merits on value for money, safety, driving performance, design, and quality.
The full scoring of each car will be open to scrutiny and available for download at a later date. This not only ensures transparency, but also provides you, the buyer, an additional tool to examine how each car scored in different aspects. Safety more important to you than performance? You’ll get to examine that for yourself.
The objective of our awards is very clear – to be a buying guide, and not to be a masturbating party of squirting on each other’s face trying to exert imaginative authority to car makers for “This IS THE BEST CAR OUT OF THE UNIVERSE’s SUVs” that kind of shit.
We respect the variety and diversity of the market, we help narrow down your choices, but more importantly, we trust in the intelligence of our esteemed readers that you are the best person to decide what is the best car of the year for yourself.
