SKYACTIV-B‍‍‍ODY

The SKYACTIV-BODY of the Mazda2 has an even simpler frame layout and optimized cross-section shapes whilst basically sharing the same outstanding architecture used in other Mazda models.

Measures implemented on every detail of the body, to increase rigidity and improve damping feel without increasing weight, have resulted in a 22 percent stiffer body compared to the previous model.

The Mazda2 greatly expands the usage of high tensile steel, which contributes to reduced weight while maintaining high strength.

SKYACTIV-CHASSIS

The Mazda2 includes standard SKYACTIV-CHASSIS technology such as an increased castor trail and angle, and repositioned rear suspension mounting point. Front and rear dampers adopt friction control function and other refinements to achieve both nimble driving performance and ride comfort.

Quicker steering gear ration gives the Mazda2 a more responsive helm. Rigid steering mount, adopted for the first time in a Mazda passenger car, improves steering linearity as well as overall steering system rigidity.

For display and operation, the Mazda2 adopt’s Mazda’s HMI based on the heads-up cockpit concept. The Active Driving Display is positioned on top of the meter hood and is complemented by a 7-inch display mounted on the dashboard. The commander control unit is positioned atop the floor console.

The meter cluster design features a round analogue tachometer with an integrated digital speedometer flanked on either side by a pair of wing-shaped digital displays. Surrounded by a metallic ring and featuring an elaborate three-dimensional dial face, the centre meter creates a sporty, high quality design.

‍‍‍The Mazda2 adopts MZD Connect, Mazda’s latest in-car connectivity system that is safe and simple to operate, allowing easy access to internet connectivity and social networking ser‍‍‍vices considered essential by today’s customers, even when in transit.

i-STOP

Mazda’s i-Stop idling stop system helps deliver smooth stopping and starting along with improved fuel economy.

The system automatically stops the engine when the driver presses the brake pedal and stops the car. When subsequently releasing the brakes to move on again, fuel is directly injected into the combustion chamber to automatically restarted the car in just 0.35 seconds.
