The first-ever BMW X7 brings Munich’s family of Sports Activity Vehicles to a new level of luxury and exclusivity.
Building on the overwhelming success of this family of models comes the first ever BMW X7, a vehicle that blends lavish presence, exclusivity and spaciousness with the versatile and agile driving properties customers would expect from a Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV).
The latest and largest model in the BMW X line-up uses its outstanding powertrain and chassis technology, plus generous levels of space in each of its three rows of seats, a luxurious ambience and advanced equipment features, to deliver an unparalleled driving and interior experience.
BMW’s new design language brings the modern elegance characteristic of the brand’s luxury-segment models to the exterior of X7, and adds visual poise, assurance and an overriding sense of authority.
A daring experiment in the 1990s, BMW ventured into then-unknown territory with the first ever X5. The company that built its name on sedans and coupes that majored on dynamics suddenly dabbled into making a Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV).
After overcoming some initial apprehension, the X5 proved to be a massive success, giving the clearest indication that there was appetite for high-riding SAVs that offered both luxury and, counter-intuitive to wisdom at the time, sporty dynamics.
It didn’t take long for BMW to further discover that the market is also ready for the X5’s general concept of a luxury SAV to be scaled to a variety of sizes, leading to the eventual creation of a full-range of BMW X models ranging from the X1 all the way to the X6.
Powerful illumination for the X7 is provided by BMW Laserlight, which has a high-beam range of up to 600 metres and can be easily identified by the blue x-shaped elements inside the headlights.
The car’s defining features when viewed from the side are its large windows, high ground clearance and long roofline. Horizontal lines, slim LED lights and the two-section split tailgate emphasise the contemporary styling of the rear end.
A generous sprinkling of chrome elements adds to the luxurious elegance of the BMW X7. Equally striking is the 21-inch light alloy wheels in Y-spoke style 753 Bicolour with run-flat tyres which are included as standard.
Precise design radiating presence, luxury and modernity.
At 5,151 millimetres in length, 2,000 millimetres wide and 1,805 millimetres tall, and with a wheelbase of 3,105 millimetres, the BMW X7 displays harmonious proportions and establishes itself very clearly as the new head of the BMW X model family.
The new design language, dominated by precise lines and expansive surfaces, intensifies the car’s authoritative aura. The prominent front end, with its exceptionally large BMW kidney grille, gives the car an undeniable sense of presence.
Interior: three rows of seats and a luxurious ambience.
The roominess and versatility of the interior are underlined by the standard inclusion of three rows of seats (offering space for seven people in total) in the new BMW X7. The two passengers in the third row settle into full-size seats complete with armrests, cupholders and USB ports.
The middle row can be composed of two individual comfort seats as an option. All seats are adjusted electrically at the push of a button. The boot capacity can be increased from 326 to a maximum of 2,120 litres, as required.
Carefully selected and meticulously crafted materials add to the feeling of luxury, as does the extensive standard specification. The BMW X7 comes as standard with Vernasca leather trim, four-zone automatic climate control, a three-section panoramic glass roof, and ambient lighting including the Welcome Light Carpet and Dynamic Interior Light.
The BMW X7 boasts a wealth of chassis technology as standard, including Adaptive suspension with electronically controlled dampers, and air springs at both axles. The vehicle’s ground clearance can be varied by up to 80 millimetres to suit the situation at hand – by either pressing a button or using the BMW Display Key.
For the first time in a BMW X model, the X7 is offered with the innovative Executive Drive Pro with active roll stabilisation that provides an ideal combination of superior ride comfort and outstanding dynamics. The active anti-roll stabilisation reduces body movements and body roll in bends to a minimum.
Ride comfort is further enhanced by the Dynamic Damper Control system, which is able to process data from the navigation system and front camera to continuously adjust suspension damping rates to perfectly suit the surrounding terrain.

New frontiers in digital connectivity.

The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant included in the operating system from March 2019 – or available to import by Remote Software Upgrade – presents the latest advances in the field of digital connectivity.
Once activated with the spoken prompt “Hey BMW”, the digital companion helps the driver to utilise the car’s functions. And the system will continue to acquire new capabilities all the time thanks to updates transmitted seamlessly via Remote Software Upgrade.
Via the Connected Package Professional, owners of the X7 can benefit from Remote Services, Concierge Services, and Apple CarPlay. Other innovative features include the new BMW Digital Key which unlocks and starts the vehicle via an owner-authorised Android smartphone and Remote Software Upgrade which provides over-the-air vehicle software updates.
